    CATIA (V5R20)

CATIA Design products and solutions cover the entire shape design, styling and surfacing workflow, from industrial design to Class A. Our intuitive and easy to use shape design tools give everyone involved in the product design process, from industrial designers, Class A modelers to Aero Lofting engineers, a real freedom to design any kind of complex shape. Advanced functionalities include reverse engineering, Class-A surfacing, rapid propagation of design changes, powerful real-time diagnostic tools and high-end visualization. CATIA enables creative designers, design studios and engineering departments to work collaboratively in optimizing their products for aesthetic and engineering purposes.

    Features & Benefits

    Industrial Design

CATIA is at the service of industrial designers and their creativity. Whether starting the 3D ideation from scratch or from 2D sketches, industrial designers can manipulate shapes with unrivaled freedom and take advantage of a true creativity accelerator to explore more ideas in the early conceptual phase.

    Advanced Surface Modeling

CATIA fully addresses the Automotive Class-A Shape Design process with a solution for surface refinement that integrates industry leading Icem surfacing technologies. By combining the V6 technology strengths, which include knowledge capture-and-reuse paradigm, it delivers a powerful and intuitive suite of tools for modeling, analyzing and visualizing aesthetic and ergonomic shapes for the highest Class-A surface quality.

    Reverse Engineering & Surface Reuse

CATIA enables creative designers to produce and read STEP files. It provides reconciliation and fixing tools to heal parts to be used in downstream applications such as manufacturing, analysis, or tooling design. Powerful Reverse Engineering solutions combined with realistic shape optimization tools makes it possible to quickly capture and enhance physical prototypes shapes.

PTC Creo Parametric is the standard in 3D CAD , featuring state-of-the-art productivity tools that promote bestpractices in design while ensuring compliance with your industry and company standards.  PTC Creo Parametric provides the broadest range of powerful yet flexible 3D CAD capabilities to help you address your most pressing design challenges including accommodating late stage changes, working with multi-CAD data and electromechanical design.A scalable offering of integrated, parametric, 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE solutions allows you to design faster than ever, while maximizing innovation and quality to ultimately create exceptional products. As part of the PTC Creo product family, PTC Creo Parametric can share data seamlessly with other PTC Creo apps. This means that no time is wasted on data translation and resulting errors are eliminated. Users can seamlessly move between different modes of modeling and 2D and 3D design data can easily move between apps while retaining design intent. This results in an unprecedented level of interoperability and delivers break-through productivity gains throughout many product development processes.

    Features & Benefits

    • Powerful and flexible parametric 3D CAD capabilities enable superior product differentiation and manufacturability
    • Broad range of concept design capabilities facilitates rapid new product introduction
    • Seamless data interoperability and a common user experience across apps and extensions allow you to develop everything from concept to manufacturing faster and cheaper
    • Ability to accommodate late stage changes and automatic propagation of design changes to all downstream deliverables allows you to design with confidence

The goal of this course is to teach persons with a technical background how to program and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) mills and lathes.  This course bridges the gap between what persons with a technical education know and what they must learn to begin using CNC machine tools. The types of parts, materials and machining operations that engineers, innovators, and  niche manufacturers often use are featured. Work holding techniques well suited to prototype and short-run     production are detailed and used as examples. The learner is expected to have the following:  Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent experience. Knowledge of the proper use of basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers. Some manual machining experience is helpful but not required this course.

     Features & Benefits

The general workflow to go from CAD model to machined CNC part is:

    • Begin with CAD model.
    • Establish Job parameters including CNC coordinate system and stock shape/size.
    • Select CNC process.
    • Select cutting tool and machining parameters.
    • Select driving CAD geometry.
    • Verify tool path.
    • Post Process.
    • Transfer G-code program to CNC machine.
    • Set up and operate CNC machine to make part.
